Peihsuan’s Amazing Progress - Aspen Heights British School
Peihsuan joined Aspen Heights British School in FS2, as one of our 112 inaugural children in September 2017. Her family had recently moved from Taiwan and Peihsuan could not communicate in English at all. Starting a new school can be a daunting experience for children and families; particularly when communication is a challenge.

We celebrate the diversity of our student’s nationalities, ensuring that that they grow and achieve together, as independent learners and critical thinkers.

Our passionate teachers care, working hard to get know the child, enabling them to facilitate a truly personal education.  They work tirelessly to facilitate fun, engaging, relevant, memorable and highly effective learning experiences.  Peihsuan was engaged, and felt she belonged from the very beginning, even with her little English, meaning her language, confidence and learning excelled.

We pride our self on our positive and welcoming school ethos and sense of community- children actively promote our school values of courtesy, consideration, co-operation and common sense- our 4 Cs. This supported Peihsuan in developing the confidence in herself and in her abilities.

Family engagement is of high priority at Aspen Heights, and we have well-developed parental partnerships that contribute to our tangible sense of community. Parents are invited into school to our weekly assemblies to join us in celebrating their child’s amazing learning, and we hold regular family events over the year. This enabled Peihsuan to feel her school was an extension of her home.

Our personalised curriculum at Aspen Heights explicitly teaches life skills such as problem solving and decision making, and our enquiry-based learning programme enables children to develop confidence by driving their own learning, and working collaboratively.  This encourages Peihsuan and her classmates to strive for excellence in all that they do.

We are so proud of her progress, both academically and socially. She is now in Year 1 and her confidence and experience has allowed her to support other new children in integrating into our school. She has many friends, is constantly talking and has made remarkable progress in all areas of learning.

Peihsuan is a role model to others; she makes Aspen Heights a better place to work and to learn!
